Bathurst Visitor Information Centre has launched new ‘Lockdown Love’ care packages on their online store.

Products in the selection include jams and relishes from Illa Langa Farm, honey from the Beekeepers Inn, and lavender parcels from Littleton Lavender, as well as Bathurst branded items including magnets, mugs and more.

Purchasers can choose one item, or several to curate a personal care package, complete with a message to the recipient that can be entered in the cart before checkout and payment.   

Bathurst Mayor Ian North said the care packages are a great way to send family members and friends in lockdown some love from afar, while supporting local businesses. 

“For many of us, it has been quite some time since we have been able to get together with friends and family members who live in different areas around NSW and interstate, he said”.

“Posting a small token from our region is a great way to show those you care about that you miss them and help brighten up their day. Purchasing local and regional products also supports local producers and small businesses.” 

Purchases can be collected free from Bathurst Visitor Information Centre or mailed to loved ones for a standard rate of $15 including packaging and postage to anywhere in Australia.

George Park Master Plan

A revised George Park Master Plan has been prepared as a result of the desire from sporting stakeholders for Council to set a clear direction to future needs at George Park for the growth and development of sport. This has been considered a priority as it will enable sporting groups to plan for their future at George Park and be able to plan on infrastructure projects and upgrades that have the support and approval of Council. In the past 24 hours our city has seen the number of positive COVID-19 cases rise by 2 taking the total number of active cases in the community to 9.

Mayor of Bathurst Ian North said his priority during this challenging and uncertain period is to keep the community safe.

“I would like to remind everyone in our community to please get tested even if you have the mildest of symptoms and stay at home until you get your results,” he said.

“Residents are also reminded to practise good hygiene, QR code in and out of venues, wear face masks and social distance when out and about.”

“NSW Health has established extra testing capacity at the Mount Panorama drive-through clinic that is highly efficient. Testing clinics are also available at Bathurst Hospital and Bathurst Respiratory Clinic at CSU.”

Concept plans for the new state-of-art Bathurst Integrated Medical Centre (BIMC) are now available on the Bathurst YourSay website.

Mayor of Bathurst Ian North said Council had put the plans on the Bathurst YourSay website to assist BIMC and Zauner Construction gain community feedback into the project.

“Our community can view the details of the proposed project and provide feedback to the team at BIMC and Zauner Construction,” he said.

“The feedback will be used to inform the application to the State Government for consideration of the project as a State Significant Development.”

The facility will be a privately funded project of approximately $70 million, creating a significant economic jobs boost during construction and beyond. The building, when finished, is designed to include facilities such as:

Mayor of Bathurst Cr Ian North has called on the community to get tested if you have even the mildest of cold or flu-like symptoms.

“I can’t stress enough how important it is that if you have even the mildest of cold or flu-like symptoms. With five confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported for Bathurst it is vital that if you’re feeling unwell, you get tested and isolate until you get your results.”

“Council has worked with NSW Health and a second testing clinic is now operating at Mount Panorama to ensure as many residents can be tested as quickly as possible.”

“With high testing numbers and continuing to follow the stay at home orders we can make a difference and help stop the spread of COVID in the community. It is more important than ever not to have visitors to your home or mixing of households.”

“If you’re eligible, get vaccinated as soon as you can.”

“Can I also ask the community to continue to support our health care workers and those at the front line providing testing and vaccination services. They are delivering a vital service to help protect our community and must be thanked for the work they are doing,” Cr North said.

Mayor urges community to stay calm

Mayor of Bathurst Cr Ian North has urged the community to remain calm after Bathurst’s first Covid-19 case was confirmed on Friday afternoon.

Mayor Ian North said the case was in isolation and reminded residents if they have the mildest of symptoms to go and get tested.

Brooke Moore Woodland Reserve Draft Plan of Management

Located adjacent to Alexander and Suttor Streets West Bathurst, Brooke Moore Woodland Reserve is a 5.8-hectare area of Crown Land managed by Council. The draft plan has been developed to facilitate the ongoing management of this highly significant woodland reserve and revered community asset.

Bathurst Mayor calls on the community to support local businesses impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Mayor Ian North said with extended restrictions impacting the region, it is important to support local businesses.

“Our local businesses add so much to our community and we need to support those that continue to operate during this challenging time,” he said.

Ways to give local businesses a hand:

• Treat yourself to one the many takeaway options at local restaurants and cafes
• If you need something urgently, try online or click and collect with our local retailers
• If you can’t get it local during lockdown and it’s not urgent, save those dollars to support our local retailers when those doors reopen.
• Spend the NSW Service Dine voucher - you can now use it on takeaway

Vaccination rates for Bathurst LGA

Bathurst Mayor Cr Ian North has congratulated the community with close to half of the population receiving their first vaccination.

46 per cent of eligible Bathurst residents have received their first dose and 24 per cent have received both doses.

“Our community is answering the call to get vaccinated and I’m proud of what we have achieved so far,” Mayor North said.

“I would also like to remind everyone to be kind to each other and be considerate of our retail staff, health care workers, emergency crews and everyone on the front line during this challenging time particularly if the lockdown gets extended.”
