With the dry weather continuing to impact the region and leading into the warmer months, Council will introduce level four-five (extreme) water restrictions on October 14.
A lack of rainfall across the region has seen Chifley Dam drop to 44 per cent as of 6 August, one of the lowest levels it has ever been at this time of the year.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said the community must work together to preserve our drinking water.
"Implementing level four-five (extreme) restrictions in October will place Bathurst in the best position possible in terms of water availability come the hotter summer months," he said
What level four-five restrictions mean for the community:
· no watering of lawns
· garden watering be limited to bucket or watering can, and only on Wednesday and Sunday from 6pm to 9pm
· car washing at home is not permitted
· that pools, garden features and child pools not be filled or topped up
Level three (high) water restrictions have been in place since November last year. The restrictions have resulted in saving approximately 13 per cent of the total volume of water in Chifley Dam since they were implemented. For information on how to conserve water or information on restrictions visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au

Second Circuit at Mount Panorama Community Consultation Meetings

Council, with funding support from the NSW and Australian Governments, has started planning for the Second Circuit at Mount Panorama in Bathurst.
The Second Circuit at Mount Panorama would accommodate a range of high-profile motorsport events year-round and feature additional multi-use facilities. To ensure that the community and other stakeholders have their say on the proposal a series of community consultation meetings will be held in August.
The proposal is being assessed as a State Significant Development by the NSW Government. As part of this process an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is being prepared that will assess the potential environmental impacts of the proposal and provide mitigation measures. It is expected that the draft EIS and proposed design will be placed on public exhibition later this year for community viewing and feedback
During the EIS display period, stakeholders and the community will again be invited to make formal submissions on the proposal and respond to the design and information detailed in the EIS.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said Council, Apex Circuit Design and the project delivery team are committed to the participation of all interested parties in the development of the Second Circuit at all stages of the planning process.
"This is an opportunity to be involved in this exciting project. I encourage everyone to come along to one of the drop-in sessions to learn about the latest developments and provide your feedback as the design is further developed,” he said.
Community consultation drop-in sessions:
· Armada Bathurst – 121 Howick Street, Bathurst Thursday, 8 August from 4pm-7pm
· Bathurst City Centre – 210 Howick Street, Bathurst Friday, 9 August from 10am-1pm
