Miller Park Revised Concept Plan

Council has undertaken previous consultations with the community in relation to the enhancement play spaces at Miller Park, Bathurst. These enhancement projects are proudly funded by the NSW Government under the Everyone Can Play program for the purpose of demonstrating Every One Can Play (ECP) design principals Can I get there, Can I play, and Can I Stay.

The aim of these demonstration projects is to look at innovative ways to apply the ECP principles to existing small play spaces in a cost effective cost-effective manner. The intent is to enable Councils across NSW to replicate this approach and improve inclusion for all play spaces.

Upon review of the initial concept designs prepared for these parks and feedback by the community, it was considered that further design changes be made to the plans to further improve inclusion, accessibility and connection for all potential users. The designs aim to appeal to the broader community by increasing inclusion, introducing nature play and exploratory experiences, and ensuring there is still opportunities for passive recreation to the benefit of all park users.

Council is seeking further feedback from the community on revised concept designs that have been developed for Miller Park under the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play guidelines.

Submissions close 8 July.

Council has been awarded a grant proudly funded by the NSW Government under the Everyone Can Play program, designed to assist local Councils to enhance community playspaces for the use and enjoyment of all users, regardless of age, ability or background.

The grant provided by NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) has been targeted towards demonstrating opportunities that can be applied to small residential park playspaces to improve inclusivity in line with the NSW Government’s Everyone Can Play Guidelines.

Two residential playgrounds have been selected under this grant, being Gormans Hill Park in Gormans Hill and Miller Park in Windradyne.

Everyone Can Play is a program that delivers and advocates for inclusive play. Inclusive play means that everyone can play, no matter their age, ability, or background. Everyone Can Play is centred around addressing three simple questions:

    1. Can I Get There

    2. Can I Play

    3. Can I Stay.

The NSW Government, in conjunction with Bathurst Regional Council is seeking input from the community, especially from residents within the local vicinity of the two parks, to help guide the upgrade design of theses parks to align with the principles of inclusive play.

Council encourages the community to complete the brief two minute survey to help inform the proposed upgrade at Miller and Gormans Hill Parks.
