Subcontractors Engaged to Complete Stage 1 Water Harvesting Scheme
MEDIA RELEASE 6 February 2025
Council has agreed to engage three subcontractors to complete Stage 1 of the Bathurst Water Harvesting Scheme.
Following the termination of the original contract in September 2024, Council has engaged the following companies:
- Optimal Stormwater Pty Ltd, for the design of the project and the supply and installation of water quality pretreatment systems.
- QMAX Pty Ltd, for the excavation of ground and the installation of pumps and associated equipment on land near the Macquarie River within the boundary of Council’s Waste Water Treatment Plant and the Water Filtration Plant.
- LMI Pty Ltd, for the installation of the polymer lining at the Bathurst Water Filtration Plant for the 8ML pond and the Waste Water Treatment Plant 28ML pond.
The Bathurst Water Harvesting Scheme was developed to address the city’s water security and drought resilience by providing extra drinking water supply. The project consists of three core stages. The subcontractors above have been appointed under a head contract to complete Stage 1.
Mayor Cr Robert Taylor noted engaging new subcontractors is a step in the right direction, with this project a vital aspect of futureproofing our growing city.
“We are very pleased to have secured appropriately qualified contractors to assist with the completion of the first stage of the Water Harvesting Scheme.
“As we continue to grow, this project is crucial for our town’s water security and ensures we are proactively safeguarding our population” he said.
The NSW Government has provided $20 million in funding to Council for water security projects including the Water Harvesting Scheme and the Winburndale pipeline project.
