Bathurst Winter Festival
The Bathurst Winter Festival wraps up this weekend.
What’s on?
- Pets Day | Sunday 16 July
- Asteroids, thanks to Newcastle Permanent, the festival’s Family Fun Partner | each evening of the festival
- Bathurst Business Winter themed displays | each day of the festival
- Retro themed skate nights Friday and Saturday from 6pm
The Winter Playground is open from 9am every day of the festival
Art in the Park can be found in Machattie park every day of the festival
Illuminations each night from sundown to 10pm.

Alcohol Free Zones 2023 – 2027
Council, at its meeting on 21 June 2023, resolved to commence the process for the re-establishment of alcohol-free zones in the Bathurst CBD from October 2023 until October 2027 under Section 644 of the Local Government Act, 1993 in areas including:
- William Street - from Durham to Piper Streets
- George Street - from Durham to Piper Streets Howick Street - from Rankin to Bentinck Streets
- Russell Street - from Rankin to Bentinck Streets
- Keppel Street - from Rankin to Havannah Streets
- Piper Street - from Rankin to Bentinck Streets
- Rankin Street - from Durham to Piper Streets
- Bentinck Street – from Durham to Piper Streets
- Court House Lane
- Church Street
You are invited to make representations or objections to the proposed zone. Representations or objections must be forwarded to Council to the General Manager, PMB 17, Bathurst NSW 2795 or email council@bathurst.nsw. gov.au by Wednesday 26 July 2023.
2023/2024 Sporting Association Grants
Sporting organisations affiliated with the Bathurst District Sport and Recreation Council are eligible to apply for grants to assist local sporting organisations undertake specific works or purchase equipment for the advancement of sport in the Bathurst Region. Information and application forms are available from Council’s Recreation Section on 6333 6285 or on Council’s website.
Applications close 26 September 2023.
2023/2024 Bathurst CCTV Funding Program
Council is providing funding to assist local businesses improve security and community safety. Businesses may apply for funding up to a maximum of $500 on a dollar-for-dollar basis, under the criteria of the Bathurst CCTV funding program.

Bathurst Access Improvement Grants
Council in partnership with the Bathurst Regional Access Committee provides grants to assist businesses and non-profit organisations improve access and inclusion to their place of business/organisation.
Businesses and non-profit organisations within the Bathurst region may apply for funding of 50 per cent of project costs, up to a maximum grant amount of $5,000. Projects must be completed within the 2023/2024 financial year to be eligible to apply for a grant. Retrospective funding can be considered providing the project is completed in the current financial year.

YourSay Bathurst
Community sentiment on Flying Foxes
Council is seeking to capture community sentiment and opinions on flying-foxes in the Bathurst region as part of the Local Government NSW-funded Macquarie Wambuul River Bathurst Flying-fox Camp Habitat Restoration Project.
Flying-foxes are seasonal visitors to the Bathurst region arriving in spring and moving on to warmer locations when the temperature drops too low. The main species that visits our region is the threatened grey-headed flying-fox and the little red flying-fox.

Control Plan and Engineering Guidelines - Laffing Waters Master Plan and Earthworks
Council is exhibiting a detailed amendment to its Development Control Plan to implement the vision of the Laffing Waters Master Plan adopted by Council in 2019.
The Laffing Waters Master Plan provides the framework for delivering 2,000+ houses at Laffing Waters over the coming decade.

Swimming pool inspections policy
Council is seeking feedback on its Swimming Pool Inspection Policy. The policy deals with issues such as the inspection of residential properties at the point of sale or lease; the inspection of properties used for tourist visitor accommodation; and the charging of fees for undertaking inspections.

Community participation plan
Council has prepared an amendment to the Bathurst Regional Community Participation Plan 2019 (CPP). The CPP identifies how and when members of the community can become involved in Development Applications and Strategic Planning Initiatives, under the Enviornmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
The draft CPP is on exhibition from 3 July 2023 to 31 July 2023.
