Museums Bathurst is offering exciting new opportunities to volunteer with the expanding network of Museums run by Bathurst Regional Council.

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled volunteers to become part of the dynamic Museums Bathurst team. If you are a people person and passionate about engaging with the community, this volunteer opportunity is a great way to be involved in community activities and to gain professional museum experience.

The Museums Bathurst volunteer team will join Bathurst Regional Council’s newly formed Museums unit to assist in providing to best possible visitor experiences at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, National Motor Racing Museum, Chifley Home and Education services, Bathurst Rail Museum and the planned Central Tablelands Collection Facility.

Three new Museums Bathurst volunteer opportunities have been created which include:

  • Bathurst Rail Museum Layout Volunteer – a specialised role to assist with the ongoing maintenance of the layout.
  • Museums Bathurst Collections Volunteer – requiring skills and experience working with collections, data bases and object handling.
  • Museums Bathurst Volunteer – a key audience engagement role that provides support to Museum staff across one or more sites to deliver high quality public programs and visitor service.

As well as this unique opportunity to be involved with part of Bathurst heritage and its museums, being a volunteer with Museums Bathurst is an opportunity to share your interests, make friends, learn new skills, increase your knowledge and be involved with the community.

Volunteers are fully trained and supported by staff and are expected to commit to being for at least 12 months and must complete our training session in February 2020.

If you feel you have the skills suit to one of our roles, we have a limited number of positions available so please apply by either submitting the online volunteer application form or by downloading and completing the attached PDF form. Please read the Volunteer Role Descriptions before you complete your application. Once the applications close, one of our staff members will contact you to discuss volunteering opportunities.
