Village Meetings

Sporting Association Grants

Sporting organisations affiliated with the Bathurst District Sport and Recreation Council are eligible to apply for grants to assist local sporting organisations undertake specific works or purchase equipment for the advancement of sport in the Bathurst region. Information and application forms are available from Council’s Recreation Section on 6333 6285 or on Council’s website.

Applications close 26 September.

Dobell Drawing Prize at the Gallery

2 September - 5 November

The Dobell Drawing Prize is Australia’s leading prize for drawing, an unparalleled celebration of technique, innovation, and expanded approaches to drawing by acclaimed and emerging drawing practitioners. This exhibition showcases over 45 artworks.

Tree planting

Council is hosting a community tree planting day on Sunday 24 September.

Starting at 10am off Hereford Street, volunteers can help plant native trees that

once mature will provide habitat for local wildlife, and improve the health of the

Macquarie Wambuul River.

Market Stall Applications

Registrations open for Business Window Display Competition

The Repco Bathurst 1000 is turning 60 and all local businesses are invited to help celebrate the milestone. Decoration starter packs will be provided by Supercars. To register, visit Council’s website.

BizLunch

26 Sep: BizMonth Lunch with guest speaker Annabelle Williams OAM.

The Business Lunch is the highlight of the BizMonth calendar. Presented by Council, the lunch is a wonderful opportunity for business professionals to network with each other and sit back and relax with guest speaker Annabelle Williams. Bathurst Goldfields 11.30am to 2.00pm.

Learn the basics of drawing at BRAG

Head to BRAG this school holidays for a Drawing Basics workshop. In the workshop you will get a short tour of the Dobell Drawing Prize #23 exhibition, followed by a drawing workshop where kids will learn different techniques of drawing and mark making.

$10 BRAGS members, $15 non-members, materials supplied, ages 8-13.

The Great Race: 60 Years of Bathurst 1000

Date: Wednesday 4 October at 6.00pm

Premier motorsport journalist Aaron Noonan will be in conversation with National Motor Racing Museum’s Manager Brad Owen about cars, the stars, the thrills and spills from 60 years of the Bathurst classic.

Mosaic Bird Art

Date: Tuesday 3 October from 10am - 11am

Create a bright and colourful bird mosaic artwork using tiles of various mediums; paper, cardboard, stone, glass and plastic.

Use our templates or try drawing your own bird design. For children aged 6 years and above.
