Signage is a crucial part of a destination’s branding and in creating a positive and consistent visitor experience and in directing and dispersing both visitors and locals throughout the city and the LGA. Tourism related signage in the Bathurst region does not adequately enhance the visitor experience or direct visitors to the area’s many attractions.
The Destination Management Plan adopted by Council in 2019 identified the need for a review and for development of a strategic approach to tourism signage (Actions 4.6 thru 4.8). To achieve this outcome, a new Tourism Wayfinding and Signage Strategy is being developed.
Improved tourism signage will help to create positive first impressions, assist easy and safe visitor movement and way-finding, inform visitors of the range of attractions and services available at the destination and increase business confidence and civic pride within the Bathurst community.
Bathurst Regional Council is seeking feedback regarding the current strengths and weaknesses of existing signage as well as on what the priority areas should be for improvement to enhance the visitor experience, the presentation of the region and to improve outcomes for the businesses of the visitor economy.
