Project Update 20 March 2020
What is happening?
Extensive work is continuing on service identification and relocation which involves gas, water, telecommunications and electricity. Works on the smaller filtered water mains are currently being finalised. Following that, work on the large diameter rising mains will continue into April.
Effective from Friday, 27 March there will be a change to traffic flow on Mitre Street. The barriers will move to enable traffic to flow on the opposite side of the road in both directions to allow for water main works to continue. VMS boards will be on site to advise motorists of this change. Traffic control will also be on site to guide motorists using the intersection.
There is expected to be no impact to the bus zones, school drop off zones or pedestrian crossing on Mitre Street.
Please follow the directions of traffic control staff on site and be aware of changes to parking in the area. Council is asking that motorists allow for possible delays when travelling through the intersection and allow additional time for school pick up and drop offs.
The project will take up to 9 months to complete and any wet weather may push back the completion date.

A radio campaign is continuing to run on local radio to remind the community that businesses adjacent to the intersection remain open. For the latest project information visit the Bathurst YourSay website or if you prefer to talk to someone, please call 6333 6100.
