Project Update 17 April

Watch a video of the works with a project overview

Council is continuing work on a range of infrastructure projects including the Suttor, Mitre, Lambert Street roundabout. The crews working on site are practising appropriate social distancing measures.

Work has commenced with the installation of the larger water mains. This work will be conducted in stages and will see access to parts of the intersection limited while the mains are laid underneath the road.

Part of the intersection will be closed next week for 450mm water main renewal across Mitre to Lambert Street. The closure will only be during working hours, typically 7.00am to 5.00pm from Monday, 20 April to Friday 24 April.

Traffic control measures including VMS boards will be in place. Please follow directions of staff on site.

  • A detour route will be in place for right turn movements out of Lambert into Mitre and
  • A detour route for straight through path from Mitre to Hill St

Access to the shops will be unaffected, although customers approaching from Lambert Street will need to negotiate signposted detours to access the carpark in front of the scout hall.

Telstra crews were on site installing telecommunications cabling at the front of the shops. This is expected to be completed this week. Demolition works will then commence to clear the area in front of the shops for new kerb and gutter and road formation.

The carpark next to the shops has been sealed and is now open to the public.

Council is asking that motorists allow for possible delays when travelling through the intersection. The project will take up to 9 months to complete and any wet weather may push back the completion date.

A radio campaign is continuing to run on local radio to remind the community that businesses adjacent to the intersection remain open. For the latest project information visit the Bathurst YourSay website or if you prefer to talk to someone, please call 6333 6100.
