What’s News at Bathurst Regional Council


COVID - 19


Council is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and following the guidelines of the relevant state

and federal departments. We are continuing to monitor developments and asses any potential

impact on Council’s services, facilities and events. As this is a rapidly changing situation

please follow BRC on Facebook and visit our website for regular updates and information on

event cancellations and more. We ask for your support and if you are unwell, please contact us by

phone or email rather than in person.


Community events


In the interest of public health and safety, Council has made changes to or cancelled the following events:


  • April – May Village Meetings – cancelled


  • NRL – ticket sales suspended


·Sustainable Living Expo and An Evening with Ed – cancelled and refunds will be provided

·High-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour – rescheduled to November


·Heritage Trades Trail – cancelled and refunds will be provided

·Chase the Rainbow – cancelled

Council facilities


Council remains open but is delivering many of its services differently. The Civic Centre is open and we have implemented a number of changes to ensure appropriate social distancing and measures to protect the health of

our staff & the community. Please only visit if you are well. We are available via phone and email to answer enquiries. The Small Animal Pound is still providing pet adoptions but by appointment only.

• Bathurst Regional Art Gallery

• Australian Fossil & Mineral Museum

• Chifley Home

• Bathurst Rail Museum

• National Motor Racing Museum

• Bathurst Visitor Information Centre

• Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium

• Manning Aquatic Centre Bathurst

• Kelso Community Hub – no Council services in operation


Our focus remains on delivering essential services to the community and providing access to services

and facilities where possible.


Council meetings


In the interest of the community’s health and safety, Council’s Policy Committee and Ordinary meetings will proceed without a public gallery at Council Chambers on Wednesday, 1 April at 6.00pm. Appropriate social distancing measures will be in place for staff and Councillors that attend. The meeting will be livestreamed on Council’s YouTube channel.


Heritage Assistance Grants


Applications are now invited for small grants for the following funds:


Bathurst Region Heritage Fund

Provides small grants for the repair and maintenance of older buildings in the region. The program is supported by the NSW Heritage Branch of the Office of Environment and Heritage.


Bathurst CBD Main Street Improvement Fund

Provides small grants to assist property owners and tenants to improve, repair and maintain buildings within the Bathurst CBD.


Bathurst Region Interpretation Fund

Provides small grants for the preparation of Conservation Management Plans, historic publications and interpretation projects to promote and interpret the region’s history.


All applications close Friday 29 May. Applications for funding must be made on Council’s application form which is available on Council’s website at www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au or from the Civic Centre. For more information call 6333 6211.
