Bathurst Winter Festival

The Winter Festival will commence this weekend with Ignite the Night on Saturday starting at midday. The festival will run from 6 to 21 July and include a variety of events that will occur throughout the two weeks.

· Ignite the Night Saturday, 6 July

· Kids Day with Carousel Karaoke Wednesday, 10 July

· Live Better All Abilities Day Friday, 12 July

· Brew and Bite Saturday, 13 July

· Bowman Dental Groove and Grill Sunday, 14 July

· Sunday Funday each Sunday with food vendors in the Winter Playground

· Wind down after work each Friday in the Winter Playground with food and alcohol vendors


NAIDOC Week Ceremony and Flag Raising

The community is invited to celebrate NAIDOC Week by attending a ceremony and flag raising on Monday 8 July at the Civic Centre. The ceremony and morning tea is on at 10am, followed by the flag raising in front of the Civic Centre, Russell Street.


Mitre-Suttor-Lambert- Street Roundabout Construction

Council has called tenders for the construction of the Mitre-Suttor-Lambert Street roundabout.

The tenders are currently being assessed and a report on these tenders is expected be considered by Council in August 2019. The roundabout is being built in response to community concerns and feedback about safety issues at the intersection.

Sporting Association Grants

Grants are now available to assist local sporting organisations affiliated with Bathurst Sports Council for works or to purchase equipment. For more information call 6333 6285 or visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au. Applications close on Tuesday 24 September.

Bathurst Access Improvement For Small Business Grants

Council in partnership with the Bathurst Regional Access Committee provides

grants to assist local small businesses and non-profit organisations improve access and inclusion to their place of business/organisation.

Temporary closure of Marsden Lane

Marsden Lane will be temporarily closed to traffic between Hughes Street and Clairvaux Lane on Monday 17 June to Friday 12 July. The road closure is necessary to realign a water supply main along Marsden Lane. Resident traffic can access Marsden Lane during the period of the closure. Alternative access is available via Hughes Street. For more information phone 6333 6100.

Theo Barker Memorial Lecture

The Theo Barker Memorial Lecture will be held at BMEC on 16 August at 6.30pm. This free public lecture, co-hosted by Bathurst District Historical Society and Council, is held every two years in memory of Theo Barker a Bathurst historian.

The lecture, titled “Let’s Do Heritage Differently”, will be presented by Barbara Hickson who has over 22 years’ experience in heritage management. For more information visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au

Bathurst Jobs Expo

More than 50 exhibitors, employers, and education and training providers are expected to feature at this year's Bathurst Jobs Expo at BMEC provide information regarding job opportunities and assistance with career change or development. Save the date - Tuesday 30 July from 9am-3pm.

School Holiday Activities

Monday July 8 to Thursday July 18

Bookings are now open for the Library’s July School Holiday Program. The schedule includes a 3D-printing workshop run by Sydney-based artist Andrew Christie, an interactive theatre show with comedian Sean Murphy, Winter Festival themed craft workshops with local artist Fiona Howle, plus a teddy bears sleepover, children's yoga and a Lego block party.

Author talk: Kaneana May

Tuesday July 16 at 6.15pm

Join former scriptwriter for TV hits such as Home and Away and All Saints, Kaneana May, as she shares the behind-the-scenes secrets of working in Australian television and the trials and tribulations of breaking into publishing. Kaneana will also discuss the inspiration behind her debut novel, The One, being released in July.
