Living Legends

Nominations are now open for Living Legends. The title, Living Legend, recognises the achievements of individuals and the way they have contributed positively to the community. They could be proven leaders amongst their peers, promote the positive qualities of Council, the community or local businesses. To nominate someone you think is worthy of inclusion as a Living Legend visit the YourSay Bathurst website.

Nominations close Friday 31 January 2020.

Section 356 Donations

Council is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations and individuals seeking funding from Council to be included in the 2020/2021 budget. Funding is available for the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. To apply, submit an application form which is available on Council’s website or from the Civic Centre, 158 Russell Street, Bathurst by 4.00 pm on Tuesday, 4 February 2020. Organisations/groups who have received funding previously should re-apply if they wish to be considered for further funding.

Event of the Year

Council and the Australia Day committee are encouraging local organisations to nominate for the Bathurst Region Community Event of the Year Award and Bathurst Region Destination Event of the Year Award for events that were staged in 2019.

Railway Museum Plaques

Museums Bathurst Volunteers Wanted

Museums Bathurst is offering exciting new opportunities to volunteer with the expanding network of museums run by Council. Volunteers are needed

to work in the Bathurst Rail Museum, the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, the National Motor Racing Museum, Chifley Home and Education Centre and the

planned Central Tablelands Collection Facility in the following roles.

Bathurst District Sport & Recreation Council

42nd Annual Sports Awards. Nominate Now.

It is time to nominate any outstanding achievements by Bathurst sportspersons, teams,

Nominations close 31 December 2019. Bathurst District Sport & Recreation Council is honoured and proud to have recognised the sporting community of Bathurst for the past 43 years and to celebrate their achievements at the annual dinner.

CCTV Funding Program

Council is providing funding to assist local businesses improve security and community safety. Businesses may apply for funding up to a maximum of $500 on a dollar for dollar basis, under the criteria of the Bathurst CCTV Funding Program.

Bathurst Library January School Holiday Program

Bookings are now open for Bathurst Library’s school holiday program running from January 13-23. Choose from yoga, macramé, nature workshops, a Lego legends challenge, a Harry Potter quiz and disco, plus much more. Be quick, they fill up fast. For more information, phone 6333 6281.

NYE Party in the Park

The annual New Year’s Eve Party in the Park will be a night to remember as Bathurst comes together to celebrate another year.

This year, the NYE celebrations will be in Machattie Park. The event will be packed with excitement from 5pm, with live music, show rides and jumping castles. Enjoy the atmosphere of the night and watch the live stream of the Sydney fireworks at

9pm on the big screen.

It is set to be a fantastic night with so much on offer to enjoy including video and photo highlights of 2019. Pack a picnic, enjoy the food stalls or eat at one of Bathurst’s many great restaurants surrounding the park. For more information visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au

Bulk water purchases

Residents purchasing bulk filtered drinking water from the Hereford Street standpipes are reminded that Council will be closed between Christmas and New Year. If you need to purchase water during this period, please ensure you have enough credit on your

water card. Customers will not be able to top up cards during the closure period. Any issues with the operation of the water standpipes during the closure need to be reported to Council’s after hours number on 6334 2795.

Council will close at 4.45pm on Tuesday, 24 December and reopen at 8.30am Thursday 2 January 2020. Information on bulk water purchases is available on Council’s website at https://www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/supply-of-bulk-filtereddrinking-water.html
