Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000

· The Saturday Street Fair will be on 12 October from 10am to 4pm. It is an opportunity take the family out to the markets in Kings Parade, enjoy the children’s rides and a variety of tasty treats.

· Children are invited to take part in this year’s Bathurst 1000 colouring competition. Prizes include double trackside passes to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000,

NMRM Exhibition

This October, the National Motor Racing Museum is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the debut of

Racecam at Bathurst in 1979, and the career of the first driver to carry the on-board camera, Peter

Williamson.

With a collection of race cars from Peter’s career, as well as personal items, plus original and modern

camera equipment, don’t miss your opportunity to see how this Australian innovation changed

motorsport broadcasts forever! The National Motor Racing Museum is open from

9am to 4:30pm daily.

Stories from the Mountain

Strap in for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening with two of motorsports most remarkable careers in Dick Johnson and John Bowe.

Join them at BMEC Bathurst​ on Saturday 12 October as they take a ride down memory lane, share stories you won’t believe, their thoughts on motorsports today and of course this year's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000!

Water Restrictions

Extreme water restrictions will be in place across the Bathurst region from Monday, 14 October.

This will mean:

- No watering of lawns
- Only watering your garden on Wednesday and Sunday between 6pm and 9pm for a maximum of 30 minutes using a hand held hose with a trigger nozzle or one soaker hose or one microspray system
- No sprinklers of any kind are permitted
- No car washing at home
- No filling of new pools using the Bathurst water supply
- No topping up your pool unless you have a permit from Council
- Pools must be covered at all times
- No topping/filling up garden features or child pools
- No washing of hard surfaces except for health and safety purposes
- 4 minute showers
- Only wash clothes and use dishwashers when there is a full load

Water Smart Gardening

Qualified horticulturist and award-winning gardener, Dhyan Blore, will present a series of workshops for home gardeners at Rahamim Ecology Centre. Topics include caring for plants in dry times, maximising water in gardens and plants, the importance of mulch, features of drought tolerant plants, water for backyard birds and wildlife and using greywater on gardens. Household Chemical CleanOut

Use CleanOut to safely dispose of household chemicals on Friday, 25 October at Cooke Hockey Complex, Sydney Road, from 8.00am – 4.00pm. This is an NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative. For more information please visit www.epa.nsw.gov.au

Pillars of Bathurst

The Pillars of Bathurst project honours the lives and contributions of past residents who have played an important role in the history of the region throughout the different eras. Nominations are now open for the 2020 Pillars of Bathurst. Nomination forms and guidelines are available from https://yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/pillars

Nominations close 29 November.

Community Tree Planting Day


The ‘Rehabilitation of the Macquarie River Riparian Corridor’ project is in full swing with native trees and shrubs already planted along the Macquarie River. Why not grab the family and join us at our Community Planting Day on Sunday 27 October 2019. Commencing at 10am at the Baillie Street Open Space (Cnr Havannah Street and Sydney Road-Kendall Ave).

Celebrate Grandparents Day

Bathurst Regional Council invites grandparents and anyone who takes on the role of a grandparent the opportunity to spend quality time together with their grandchild exploring and participating in a range of activities at Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum to celebrate Grandparents Day. The event will be held on Sunday 27 October from 11am until 1.00pm. Entry, activities and morning tea will be free of charge for grandparents accompanied by their grandchild.
