Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000

· The Supercars transporters and drivers’ parade will travel through the city centre from 11.30am on Wednesday, 9 October.

· Get your fan gear or memorabilia signed by your favourite driver in Kings Parade on Wednesday, October 9. All Supercars drivers participating in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will be divided into two signing sessions. The first session is at 12.15pm and the second session is at 1.15pm.

· The Saturday Street Fair will be on 12 October from 10am to 4pm. It is an opportunity take the family out to the markets in Kings Parade, enjoy the children’s rides and a variety of tasty treats.

· Local businesses are invited to participate in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 window display competition. Displays will need to be up from Friday 4 October – Sunday 12 October. Dress windows or shopfronts in a race theme for a chance to win amazing prizes. Council will supply a starter pack with posters, balloons and bunting. Winners announced on Tuesday, 8 October and People’s Choice winner announced on Thursday, 17 October. To register, send your business details to kaitlin.collins@bathurst.nsw.gov.au or call 6333 6111. · Children are invited to take part in this year’s Bathurst 1000 colouring competition. Prizes include double trackside passes to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000,

Do you want to sell wood or other goods during race week?

Setting up a stall on a roadside or on other public land is prohibited without approval by Council. However, if you want to sell wood or other goods during the Bathurst 1000 race week you are encouraged to contact Council.

Bathurst Regional Council has set aside space in Alan Morse Park this year to accommodate wood vendors during race week and you need to lodge a Local Approval application with Council to reserve a space. Applicants will require public liability insurance listing Bathurst Regional Council as an interested party. Water Smart Gardening

Qualified horticulturist and award-winning gardener, Dhyan Blore, will present a series of workshops for home gardeners at Rahamim Ecology Centre. Topics include caring for plants in dry times, maximising water in gardens and plants, the importance of mulch, features of drought tolerant plants, water for backyard birds and wildlife and using greywater on gardens. Household Chemical CleanOut

Use CleanOut to safely dispose of household chemicals on Friday, 25 October at Cooke Hockey Complex, Sydney Road, from 8.00am – 4.00pm. This is an NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative. For more information please visit www.epa.nsw.gov.au

The Pillars of Bathurst project honours the lives and contributions of past residents who have played an important role in the history of the region throughout the different eras.
