National Asbestos Awareness Week

National Asbestos Awareness Week reminds Australians to be asbestos aware before they start any work around the home. Asbestos materials are still commonly found in bathrooms, laundries, and kitchens as well as behind tiles and under flooring. The campaign is calling on Australians to know the health risks, be aware of where asbestos might be found before starting work and to call a professional for help.

Local Government candidate information session

An information session for people interested in standing as a candidate for the 2021 local

government election will be held on Tuesday, 1 December. The session will run from 5.30pm – 7.30pm in the Council Chambers. Due to COVID-19 restrictions numbers are limited.

Bathurst Cycling Classic

The Bathurst Cycling Classic will be held 12 – 14 March 2021 and includes the Hill Climb, Criterium and B2B (Bathurst to Bathurst) 100km road race. The event will be held over three days from Friday to Sunday.

National Motor Racing Museum

New Special Exhibition - Dick Johnson Racing 40th Anniversary

In October 1980, a rock on the track at Mount Panorama would propel a struggling Queensland racer to national prominence, and kickstart a remarkable career at the very top of Australian Touring Car racing. With three Bathurst 1000 victories and five Australian Touring Car Titles, Dick Johnson would become a household name, and Ford’s leading light through the 1980s and 1990s.The latest Special Exhibition at the National Motor Racing Museum charts the rise of Dick Johnson through his early years as an amateur racer in Queensland, through the glory days of the 1980s and 90s, and the ongoing successes of Dick Johnson Racing, and DJR Team Penske. The Museum is open from 9am to 4:30pm daily, closed on Tuesdays.

Council has partnered with the National Garage Sale Trail campaign to bring one huge weekend of Garage Sales on 21 and 22 November. Blue-green algae Red Alert for Chifley Dam

A red alert warning has been issued for blue-green algae at Chifley Dam, which is now closed to all recreational activities as of 4 November. The town water supply remains safe to drink. Council will continue to monitor the dam algae levels.

Waste Services Survey

Council and NetWaste are keen to better understand how residents of the Bathurst region utilise the kerbside waste services provided by Council. The information obtained through a short survey will help Council to continually improve services to the community. Visit YourSay Bathurst to provide feedback.

Asset Management Plans

Council has prepared draft Asset Management Plans for Aerodrome, Bridges, Buildings, Drainage, Footpaths, Parks and Recreation, Rural Roads, Sewer, Solid Waste, Urban Roads and Water, which are on exhibition for community feedback. Hard copies of the draft plans are available for viewing at the Council’s Engineering Services Department or can be downloaded from the YourSay Bathurst website, yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au. Submissions can be lodged via YourSay Bathurst or in writing to The General Manager, Private Mail Bag 17, Bathurst, NSW, 2795. Submissions can be made until 4.00pm Monday 30 November.

Draft landscape plan for Sawpit Creek Open Space Reserve

A draft landscape plan for Sawpit Creek Open Space Reserve featuring an extension to the Kath Knowles pathway and providing connections to proposed and existing pathway networks within future subdivisions is now on display. the plan details a proposal to provide pedestrian links and new park and recreation facilities, whilst enhancing and protecting our natural vegetation corridors. Presentation of Financial Statements

In accordance with Section 418 (3) of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW), Bathurst Regional Council advises that the ordinary Council meeting to be held on 18 November 2020 will include the presentation of the audited Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports for the year ending 30 June 2020. Submission close at 4pm Friday 27 November 2020 after the above public meeting has been held.
