Machattie Park and Begonia House Open

The Begonia House and Fernery located in Machattie Park are now open to the public.

International Women’s Day

A dinner will be held at Rydges on Tuesday 8 March from 5.30pm featuring special guest speaker, author, broadcaster and social commentator Jane Caro and MC Betty Confetti. Tickets cost $45 and are available online at tinyurl.com/23zwy6cj

Inland Sea of Sound

Tickets are on sale for Inland Sea of Sound which will feature a series of events at KeyStone 1889, The Victoria and BMEC. The event will run from 23 – 26 February 2022.

Headliners Vika & Linda Bull will perform at BMEC on Saturday 26 February.

The festival also features the Regional Song Content Showcase. Song writers from across the Central West are encouraged to submit original songs for the content. Entries close 5pm 4 February. The top songs will be performed at Keystone on 23 February.

Tafe Precinct EOI

Council has extended the deadline for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Redevelopment of the former TAFE Precinct to Thursday, 31 March. This extension is in consideration of Covid disruptions experienced in the EOI timeframe to date and is to ensure high-quality proposals are received.

Code of Meeting Practice

The Code of Meeting Practice for Bathurst Regional Council is made under Section 360 of the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government Regulation 2005. The code applies to all meetings of Council and Council’s committees of which all the members are councillors.

Payment of Expenses and Provision of Facilities for Councillors

Council is required to adopt a policy for the payment of expenses and provision of facilities to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors. The policy identified expenses that will be paid and facilities that will be provided in relation to discharging the functions of civic office.

Council is seeking feedback on the payment of expenses and provision of facilities for councillors policy.

Aboriginal Commitment Strategy

Council is undertaking community consultation to develop the Aboriginal Commitment Strategy. The strategy will guide Council in working effectively and collaboratively with the Aboriginal community of Bathurst.

Detour at Great Western Highway Raglan

Transport for NSW has advised that access to Eugenie Street from the Great Western Highway will be closed for a period of two weeks, with a detour in place via Nile Street, until 5pm on Friday 4 March. Intermittent stopping and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place during work hours, between 7am and 6pm, from Monday to Friday.

Access to Eugenie Street between the Great Western Highway and Christie Street will be for residents only.

Theo Barker Lecture

Council and the Bathurst District Historical Society present the ninth Theo Barker Lecture at BMEC on Thursday, 17 March at 6pm. Award winning historian, Stephen Gapps, will tell of the occupation of Wiradyuri Country and the resistance warfare between 1822 and 1824 around the Bathurst region. The lecture is free to attend.
