Inland Sea of Sound

Tickets are on sale now for Inland Sea of Sound which will feature a series of events at KeyStone 1889, The Victoria and BMEC. The event will run from 23 – 26 February 2022.

Headliners Vika & Linda Bull will perform at BMEC on Saturday 26 February.

The festival also features the Regional Song Content Showcase. Song writers from across the Central West are encouraged to submit original songs for the content. Entries close 5pm 4 February. The top songs will be performed at Keystone on 23 February.

Code of Meeting Practice

The Code of Meeting Practice for Bathurst Regional Council is made under Section 360 of the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government Regulation 2005. The code applies to all meetings of Council and Council’s committees of which all the members are councillors.

Council is seeking feedback on the Code of Meeting Practice.

Submissions close Monday 28 February.

Payment of Expenses and Provision of Facilities for Councillors

Council is required to adopt a policy for the payment of expenses and provision of facilities to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors. The policy identified expenses that will be paid and facilities that will be provided in relation to discharging the functions of civic office.

Council is seeking feedback on the payment of expenses and provision of facilities for councillors policy.

Submissions close Monday 28 February.

Aboriginal Commitment Strategy

Council is undertaking community consultation to develop the Aboriginal Commitment Strategy. The strategy will guide Council in working effectively and collaboratively with the Aboriginal community of Bathurst.

Stakeholder workshops will be held on Friday, 18 February.

Section 356 Donations

Council is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations and individuals seeking funding to be included in the 2022/2023 budget. Funding is available for the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.

Application forms are available on Council’s website or from the Civic Centre. Organisations or groups that have received funding previously should re-apply if they wish to be considered for further funding.

Sporting Association Grants

Each year Council provides a grant scheme to assist local sporting organisations to undertake specific works or purchase equipment for the advancement of sport in the region.

Community Tree Planting

A community tree planting day will be held at Queen Charlotte Vale Creek, off Alpha Street, Bathurst on Sunday 13 February from 10am – 12noon.

Theo Barker Lecture

Council and the Bathurst District Historical Society present the ninth Theo Barker Lecture at BMEC on Thursday, 17 March at 6pm. Award winning historian, Stephen Gapps, will tell of the occupation of Wiradyuri Country and the resistance warfare between 1822 and 1824 around the Bathurst region. The lecture is free to attend. Temporary Road Closures

Goldsby Street

Goldsby Street West Bathurst will be closed on the corner of Macquarie Street on Tuesday 1 February 2022 from 8am to 4pm. The water main at the intersection will be replaced during the temporary closure.

Part Road Closure - Howick Street

As part of the Streets as Shared Spaces project to install a mural, part of Howick Street will be closed this weekend from 6am Saturday 5 February to 8pm Sunday 6 February.

My Brilliant Career Week

A series of free workshops will be held at the library during 14-19 February covering various aspects of careers, resumes and volunteering. The workshops will feature presenters from The Bathurst Information and Neighbourhood Centre and Kirsten Brumby who is a career coach and author.

RDA Backing Business Forum

Hosted by Regional Development Australia Central West and sponsored Council. The theme for the forum is Rediscover and Relaunch, looking at the year that has been, what worked and what did not, and rediscover new tools to help businesses relaunch into the new business age.

Held over two days, the event will feature a pre-forum networking dinner at The Victoria on Thursday, 17 February, followed by the main event at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) on Friday, 18 February 2022. For more information and to purchase tickets:

Welcome to Bathurst Lunch

Do you know someone who has recently moved to Bathurst? The Welcome to Bathurst Lunch is an event held to welcome new residents to Bathurst. It’s an the opportunity to meet the Mayor, Councillors and other new residents to Bathurst.

The lunch will be held behind the Bathurst Visitors Information Centre on Sunday 27 March commencing at 11.30am. A free lunch will be provided. RSVP to business@bathurst.nsw.gov.au by 24 March.
