MEDIA RELEASE 30 September 2022

Dogs on leads

We know how much our community loves their dogs. We're asking dog owners for support and to walk dogs on leads when out in public. You must maintain effective control of your dog when you are out and about. Penalties do apply for having a dog off lead in a public place.

  • Owner of a dog not under control in public place ($330)
  • In charge of a dog not under control in public place ($330)

If you want to exercise your dog off lead, Council has 12 off-leash areas. When using these areas, your dog must be visible at all times and controlled by voice command.

For more information visit Council’s website and search off leash areas.
