The NRL clash between the Penrith Panthers and the Manly Sea Eagles will be held on Saturday, May 1 at 3pm.

Play like a Panther clinic
Come and Meet the Penrith Panthers players at the Play Like a Panther Super Clinic Brought to you by Reliance Bank, taking place in Bathurst on Thursday the 29 April at Bathurst Sports Ground. The Panthers NRL squad will be in attendance to help deliver Rugby League skills and drills covering passing, catching, kicking and making sure everyone is having plenty of fun.

Household Chemical Cleanout - Friday 30 April
Council will once again be running the popular Household Chemical Cleanout on Friday 30 April at the Cooke Hockey Complex from 8am to 4pm. Items such as paint, pesticides, pool chemicals, garden chemicals, solvents, household chemicals, smoke detectors, fluorescent light globes & tube and old gas bottles will be accepted. CBD CCTV - Stage 3
Works are underway on Stage 3 of the CBD CCTV project. The project will see the installation of fibre optic cable and CCTV cameras in several location in Havannah Street.
Works will occur between 7am and 4pm weekends. While under boring works occur there will be some noise and an impact on parking in the areas where the work is occurring.
Havannah Street will remain open to traffic while the works occur.

Parking enforcement
Since March 2020 Council’s Rangers have taken an educative approach to parking enforcement, issuing cautions for many offences rather than Penalty Infringement Notices Council has taken this approach to enforcement to support the local businesses and the community during the difficult period over the last twelve months.
Over a number of weeks, Council Rangers will escalate enforcement practice to ensure fair and equitable access to parking for all members of the community. This will include restrictions in school zones, bus zones, no parking areas and time restrictions in the carparks.

Heritage assistance grants now open
Applications are now invited for small grants to assist property owners, and community groups maintain, conserve and interpret the regions heritage and history under Council’s heritage assistance funding programs.
Owners of older properties in the Bathurst Region, community groups with an interest in Bathurst’s local heritage and history and owners of properties in the CBD are encouraged to apply for funding.
Funding is available through the:
- Bathurst Region Heritage Fund 2021/2022
- Bathurst CBD Main Street Improvement Fund 2021/2022
- Bathurst Region Interpretation Fund 2021/2022
Application forms and guidelines are available on Council’s website or from Council’s Environmental, Planning and Building Services Department.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 18 June 2021.
Entries into Waste 2 Art open
The Bathurst Waste 2 Art exhibition and competition will be held at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre between 8 and 23 May. Entry forms are now available on the Council website and entries are open until 5 May. For more information and inspiration visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au
Women for Election Workshop
Women for Election Australia (WFEA) is running a free workshop aimed at equipping more women to run for local government. The six-hour workshop will be held on Friday 30 April at Council chambers from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

Library upcoming events
Exclusive Sydney Writers’ Festival talks streamed for Library audiences
Bathurst Library is participating in the 2021 Sydney Writers’ Festival ‘Nights at the Library’ program offering exclusive online author talks streamed live in the library on the big screen.
The program will be held over three nights and will feature talks by Australian award- winning and best-selling authors :
Kate Grenville: Tuesday 27 April
Anita Heiss: Wednesday 28 April
Candice Fox: Thursday 29 April.
All talks will be streamed on a large screen for audience members to watch in the library space. Bookings are essential. Call the Library on 6333 6281.
NSW Electoral Commission Local Government election candidate webinars
A series of online candidate information sessions will be conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission (NSWEC) in the lead up to the 2021 NSW Local Government elections. The webinars will be held from April to August 2021 and will cover the following topics:
• Election overview
• Election funding and disclosure
• Registration of candidates, groups, and third-party campaigners
• Electoral material (also known as how-to-vote material)
• Nomination process
• Early voting and election day voting
• Candidate workers and scrutineers
• Counting and results

• 11:00am, Tuesday 27 April – Candidate information
• 6:00pm, Thursday 29 April – Candidate information (repeated)
• 6:00pm, Tuesday 11 May - Election funding and disclosure
Please note the first two webinars are not applicable to prospective candidates in Fairfield City Council and Penrith City Council as the Electoral Commissioner is not conducting elections for these two councils. See below for further information about the election for these areas.
