National Tree Day – Macquarie Wambuul River community tree planting day

Council is holding a community tree planting day on Sunday 24 July from 10am – 12 noon at the Hereford Street open space reserve. Give as much or as little time as you can spare – it all makes a difference to help rehabilitate our local rivers, creek and woodlands.

No experience is needed and all plants and equipment are provided.

Please bring water, sunscreen, and a hat and wear suitable shoes, and clothing for being outdoors. To ensure safe hygiene practices we ask that you please bring along your own gardening gloves. Council will provide hand washing facilities. The event will go ahead in light rain, so please bring a raincoat if required. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult carer.

Register your pet

Council has a new service which sends SMS reminders to dog and cat owners to register their pets.

Registering your pet and updating the contact details, if required, is the best way to ensure your pet is returned to you if they ever become lost. Another round of reminders will be sent to pet owners soon.

The registration fee is a once-only payment, which covers the cat or dog for its lifetime in NSW, regardless of any changes in ownership. You can visit www.petregistry.com.au to register and update your details. Don’t forget to have your desexing paperwork with you to access the discounted fees.

CCTV funding program

Council is providing funding to assist local businesses improve security and community safety.

Businesses may apply for funding up to a maximum of $500 on a dollar-for-dollar basis, under the criteria of the CCTV funding program.

Access improvement grants

Council, in partnership with the Bathurst Regional Access Committee provides grants to assist businesses and non-profit organisations improve access and inclusion to their place of business/organisation

Partnerships for Prevention – Bathurst’s Illegal Dumping Action Plan

We encourage the community to continue to report illegal dumping activity and to come along to the community workshop planned for Wednesday 27 July to help develop the Bathurst Illegal Dumping Action Plan.

The two hour workshop will be held at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre at 2.30pm. To RSVP give Council a call on 6333 6211.

This grant project is a NSW Environment Protection Authority, Waste Less Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.

Bathurst District Court and Recreation Council

Bathurst District Sport and Recreation Council is holding a future directions workshop on Monday 18 July 2022 at BMEC at 6pm. All sporting and recreation clubs, organisations and individuals are invited to attend the workshop to discussion the future of BDSRC. To RSVP call 0428319501.

Bathurst Winter Festival

Enjoy the final weekend of the Bathurst Winter Festival. Festival fixtures including the McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink, giant ferris wheel and carousel will be back. The program for this year features food and wine events, festival nights and plenty of activities for families with children. Little Bang Discovery Club

The library science club for pre-schoolers will start on Monday mornings from 25 July. Running for six weeks, children can learn what it means to be a scientist and the very basics of science concepts with hands on experiments and activities. For further information and bookings phone 6333 6281.

Emissions Reduction Plan

Partnering with NetWaste and the EPA, Council is inviting residents to complete a survey that seeks to understand how to use the green lidded kerbside Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) bin.
