Inland Sea of Sound

Annual Funding/Donations Program 

Section 356 Donations 

Council is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations and individuals seeking funding from Council to be included in the 2021/2022 budget. Funding is available for the period from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.  

Apply via an application form which is available on Council’s website or from the Civic Centre, 158 Russell Street, Bathurst by 4.00 pm on Tuesday, 9 February.

Organisations/groups that have received funding previously should re-apply if they wish to be considered for further funding.   For more information, phone 6333 6257 or visit Council’s website. 

Library - memoir writing workshops 

Are you planning to write or are in the process of writing a memoir? Do you want to learn further tips and techniques to bring your writing to life? Bathurst Library will be hosting a series of monthly interactive workshops from February to June to help you connect with others on a similar writing journey. 

Delivered by Kerry Chater, the workshops will cover topics from getting started with writing, identifying what makes a story interesting, bringing stories to life and key editing tips to help people write and develop their stories. Each workshop costs $10 and bookings are essential as spaces are limited. The first workshop will be held on Saturday 13 February 3 – 5 pm.

NEW PERSPECTIVES: ART AND LIFE IN THE BATHURST MIGRANT CAMP 

Saturday 6 February @ 2.30pm 

This panel discussion looks at life in the Bathurst Migrant Camp through the experience of Jurgis Miksevicius, a Lithuanian born artist who immigrated to Australia in 1948 and spent nine months as camp artist. The panel brings together his daughter Carolyn Leigh, Bathurst historian Christopher Morgan, architect Henry Bialowas, and Bathurst Historical Society Museum Curator Samantha Friend in a lively discussion about life in the Bathurst Migrant Camp, and its significance in the story of Australian migration. 

Capacity limited, RSVP essential via EventBrite, $8 BRAGS, $12 non-members. 

Bathurst Cycling Classic 

The Bathurst Cycling Classic will be held 12 – 14 March and includes the Hill Climb, Criterium and B2B (Bathurst to Bathurst) 100km road race. The event will be held over three days from Friday to Sunday. 

Dates: Friday 12 March Hill Climb on Mount Panorama twilight event  

Saturday 13 March Criterium  

Sunday 14 March B2B 100km fully closed roads throughout course
