Water education program for early learners

MEDIA RELEASE 27 January 2021

Council has created an educational program to deliver water conservation and water use lessons to preschool aged children across the region.

The free program is designed to be used by early learning educators in a range of settings including day care centres and family day care.

Mayor Bobby Bourke said the program links to the Early Years Learning Framework and includes videos, activities, and other online resources and was created in collaboration with early learning educators, artists, and other key stakeholders.

“Each module is broken into key learning elements and uses fun activities, guided discussions, an array of activity sheets, support resources and videos to engage children in the learning,” he said.

Topics include:

  • The water cycle
  • How do we use water?
  • Water in Bathurst
  • Being conservative with water and
  • Keeping our waterways clean and healthy

“The program continues Council’s commitment to providing information and education to the community on the importance of water conservation and preserving this precious resource.”

Local educators are invited to attend a free one-hour webinar on Wednesday February 10 to learn more about the early learning water education program. For more information and to register visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/early-learning-water-education-program
