Mount Panorama-Wahluu Section 9 declaration extension

Council has been made aware that Minister for the Environment Sussan Ley has extended the emergency Section 9 declaration for an additional 30 days on the proposed site of the go-kart track on Mount Panorama-Wahluu.

Council has not yet had formal advice from the Minister regarding this decision.

An announcement on the Minister’s website advises that the declaration has been extended for another 30 days and that it is the Minister’s intention to consult further on a potential Section 10 declaration.

Mayor Cr Bobby Bourke said he looked forward to being able to discuss the matter further with the Minister and Council will continue to abide by the conditions of the current Section 9 declaration.

“We look forward to being able to further present Council’s case to the Minister regarding the work that has been undertaken prior to the approval of the go-kart track.

“The Minister has given an undertaking that her determination will be made before 4 May, and we thank the Minister for being very clear about her timeline for this process.”
