Marang Connections

Swim Session

Council has partnered with Manning Aquatic Centre to host a free swim safety session as part of the Marang Connections program. The swim safety session is suitable for young people aged 8-16 years old and will be held on Thursday 22 December from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Manning Aquatic Centre.

Registrations are essential as places as limited. Please phone Council's Community Services Section on 6333 6523 to register or to book free transport.

Song and music workshops

In partnership with Drew Churches and Greer Films, Council will host three workshops to produce a song and music video. The music production workshops will be held at Kelso Community Hub on Wednesday, 18 January and Friday, 20 January 2023 from 10:00am – 3:00pm on both days.

The video production will held on Wednesday 25 January 2023 from 10:00am – 4:30pm across various locations (participants to be advised during music production workshops).

The workshops are suited for Indigenous and Non-Indigenous young people, aged 8 – 18 years who are interested in creative and performing arts, music and filming. For more information or to book transport, phone 6333 6523.

Marang Connections is funded under the joint Australian Government - NSW Government Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 2018.

Waste 2 Art

Waste 2 Art is an annual community art exhibition and competition open to all residents of the Bathurst region. It showcases creative works made from reused waste materials. The aim is to challenge perceptions about waste and to celebrate the reuse and recycling of waste through arts and crafts. This year’s theme is Year of Textiles.

Council is inviting individuals, schools, and community groups to take up the challenge and create a new life for materials that would otherwise have been thrown away.

Event of the Year applications

Council and the Australia Day committee are encouraging local organisations to nominate for the Bathurst Region Community Event of the Year Award and Bathurst Region Destination Event

of the Year Award for events staged in 2022.

Each winner will receive $2000 of radio and print advertising with 2BS/B-Rock and Central West Village Voice for advertising the event in 2023. For more information or to nominate visit Council’s website.

Kelso Community Hub Christmas Party

In partnership with Bathurst Local Aboriginal Land Council and Bathurst Community Transport, a Christmas Party will be held at the Kelso Community Hub on Wednesday 14 December.

The event will commence at 4:00pm and include Santa photos, jumping castles, a barbecue, games and activities. There will be a Christmas light bus tour leaving from the Kelso Community Hub at 7.45pm. Participants for the bus tour must be at least 4 years of age and children under school age must be accompanied by an adult. For more information phone 6333 6523.

Christmas Closures

The Civic Centre will be closed at 12.00 noon on Friday, 23 December and will reopen 8.30am on Tuesday, 3 January. For a full list of Council facility closures over the Christmas period, visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au.

World Cross Country

Spectator tickets and entries for mass participation races at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Bathurst 2023 are now on sale. Hosted by Athletics Australia, the World Athletics Cross Country Championships will see up to 500 of the world’s best athletes from across the globe descend upon Mount Panorama in New South Wales, in what promises to be one of the most gruelling, ‘back to basics’ event of the World Athletics Series.

Living Legends

Nominations are open for the Living Legends 2023. The title, Living Legend, recognises the achievements of individuals and the way they have contributed positively to the community. They could be proven leaders amongst their peers, promote the positive qualities of Council, the community and local businesses.

Annual Funding Donations Program

Council is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations and individuals seeking funding from Council.

Funding is available from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. To apply, submit an application form available on Council’s website or from the Civic Centre by 4.00 pm on Tuesday, 7 February 2023.

NYE Party in the Park

Celebrate the arrival of 2023 with friends and family at the Adventure Playground on Saturday, 31 December. This year the event will feature the Bluey Live Interactive Experience where Bluey and her little sister, Bingo, will perform live on stage with the first performance at 5.10pm. The event will feature delicious food, live entertainment, activities for children, market stalls and a spectacular fireworks display. For more information visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au
