Bridges and culverts in rural areas to be assessed

Selected bridges and culverts around the region will be assessed in the coming months to determine their suitability for heavy vehicles.

Manager Technical Services Bernard Drum said the assessments will be conducted through the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s Strategic Local Government Asset Assessment Project.

“An engineering consultant will conduct the assessment to determine what heavy vehicle combinations can travel over the bridge,” he said.

“These assessments will enable potential expansion of access for heavy vehicles throughout the region.”
