Bin collection day changes
MEDIA RELEASE 8 July 2021
The growth in housing developments in several sections of the city will see bin collection day change for a number of households.
Acting Mayor Cr Ian North said Council regularly reviews the numbers of bins due to be collected each day of the week to ensure the numbers are similar each day.
For around 1,250 properties across the city, it means a new bin collection day in the week starting Monday 19 July. Council collects bins from more than 18,250 properties each week.
“Council has written to each property impacted by the change. For most households the status quo remains; but for some residents the increased number of bins being collected in certain areas means we need to adjust the daily collection. Households have also been sent a new waste collection calendar showing their current and new bin collection days.
“Council’s crews are currently collecting more than 5,500 bins on a Monday compared to an average of around 3,000 on each other day of the week. These changes will even out these numbers and improve collection efficiency across the city,” Cr North said.
Council will also place signage in the impacted areas to remind people of the changes occurring.
