George and Howick St Roundabout Update 22 March

The project is nearing the final stages and is expected to be completed by the first week of April.

Three layers of asphalt were applied to the road pavement near the intersection this week. The overall depth of the road pavement is 325ml.

Next week the crews will continue to work the on splitter islands, blisters, line marking, and signage.

It should be noted that NBN contractors are also independently onsite for the installation of NBN infrastructure. This is a separate project from the roundabout upgrade.

Provision for u-turns are available on all approaches. Pedestrians continue to have access to businesses, however there is some impact to parking near the work site and for those that fall within the work zone.

The temporary carpark at the old Clancy Motors site is open for the duration of the works. It can be accessed directly from Howick Street or from the RSL carpark. There are 35 spaces available for 2 hour parking to allow customers to access nearby businesses in George and Howick St while the work occurs.

Council is still advertising the full closure on local radio, along with a separate ad to advise that all businesses near the work site are open for business.
