Full closure of George & Howick St Roundabout as of Tuesday, 5 Feb

The upgrade of the intersection continues with the water works nearing completion. From next Tuesday, 5 February a full closure of the intersection will be in effect.

Provision for u-turns will be available on all approaches. Pedestrians will continue to have access to businesses, however there will be some impact to parking near the work site and for those that fall within the work zone.

Works will commence with plant and equipment being moved to the site and the location and relocation, as required, of some services. Minimal water works will continue which involves excavation for storm water drainage on George Street.

Over the first few weeks the upgrade will involve the removal of the median island, blisters and the eventual removal of the old roundabout.

VMS boards will be at key locations near the intersection advising motorists of the closure. Council is also advertising the full closure on local radio, along with a separate ad to advise that all businesses near the work site are open for business.
