Consultation has concluded
Council has developed a borrowing policy. Loan borrowings for capital works are an important source of funds for Council, recognising that the region is in a period of growth and that the full cost of infrastructure should not be carried by present-day ratepayers, but also be contributed to by future ratepayers who will also benefit from the infrastructure.
The policy provides a framework for Council to borrow funds while ensuring the ongoing viability of the Council by now allowing overall borrowings to extend Council beyond its ability to meet future repayments and budgetary obligations.
Council is seeking community feedback on the policy.
Submissions close 4pm Monday 20 August, 2018.
