Draft Policy - Media Policy
Council has a Media Policy to ensure Council provides coordinated, accurate, consistent, timely and reliable information to the media, and through it, to the community about Council activities and other matters relating to the operation of the Council. The policy also aims to ensure Council develops and maintains an effective, professional level of communication with the media.
Council has developed a new Draft Media Policy based on the Office of Local Government (OLG) Model Media Policy. The Model Media Policy, released by the OLG is 2022 incorporates examples of best practice from the media policies of a diverse range of NSW Councils, as well as from Commonwealth and State Government agencies. It is a robust document that provides a framework for Council when dealing with the media and ensures that media engagement undertaken by Councillors and staff if consistent accurate and professionals and enhances Council's reputation.
Council has developed its draft Media Policy using the Media Coordinator model.
