Draft Policy - Dangerous and Menacing Dogs
Council is seeking feedback on its draft Dangerous and Menacing Dogs Policy.
Council at its 16 September 2026 Ordinary meeting resolved to place the draft “Dangerous and Menacing Dogs” Policy on exhibition for a period of 28 days.
The policy describes how Council will assess the appropriate regulatory response regarding an alleged dog attack. The policy applies to the investigation of an alleged dog attack or dog displaying unreasonable aggression in the Bathurst Regional Council local government area. It also outlines the review process for Dangerous and Menacing Dog Declarations.
The draft Dangerous and Menacing Dogs Policy is provided in the document library and is on public exhibition from 21 September to 20 October 2026.
