Council has commenced the public exhibition of the draft Our Region Our Future, the Community Strategic Plan for the Bathurst Region. The Plan is on exhibition from 28 March 2022 to 29 April 2022. A copy of Our Region Our Future can be downloaded from the document library.

The Community Strategic Plan outlines the community’s aspirations and long-term vision for the Bathurst region. It is based on collaboration between all levels of government, local agencies, residents and visitors of the region. It is a blueprint for the long-term which will be used to guide shorter-term planning and actions.

This plan is a community plan. It is prepared by Council in collaboration with, and on behalf of residents, other levels of government and agencies. Responsibility for meeting the long-term community vision and desired outcomes rests with everyone.

When the plan makes reference to ‘we’, it refers to the collective Bathurst Regional community including Council, government agencies and other organisations, as well as its residents.

Guidelines were developed in 2009 by the NSW Government to help improve the way Local Government plans for the future. All Councils in NSW are now required to plan and report in line with the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework (IP&R). The overarching document is the Community Strategic Plan, which is to be reviewed and adopted within 9 months of the election of Council. The Community Strategic Plan, whilst reflecting the aspirations of the whole of the community, ultimately sets the priorities for Council projects and programs, which in turn provides direction for Council's long term financial planning and annual budgets.

The Bathurst Regional Community Strategic Plan, Our Region Our Future, is the community’s plan for the future of our Region. It captures the ideas, priorities, and aspirations of our community.   The Plan is now on exhibition until the 28th of April.

Council has commenced the review of the current Community Strategic Plan, Bathurst 2040.

The Community Strategic Plan (CSP) sets our goals and priorities for the regionover the next ten years and beyond.   The CSP also responds to State Government and other agency’s planning and infrastructure provision, as well as local service providers’ actions. Following the upcoming Local Government election, the new Council will use the CSP to guide the goals and actions during its term in office.

Council has commenced the preparation of an update to the current CSP, Bathurst 2040.   This feedback will assist Council in updating the CSP.
