Feedback on the draft Duramana Road Master Plan
Following detailed investigations, Council zoned land around the eastern, northern and western boundaries of Eglinton in 2011 for urban purposes to support the expansion of Eglinton. The expansion of Eglinton was the result of ongoing pressures for new housing in the village due to the attractiveness of Eglinton as a desirable place to live.
Council commenced a process to master plan the vacant residential land on the western side of Eglinton (north of Freemantle Road) as this land had been zoned in 2011 for residential housing and a new local neighbourhood activity centre to support the expanded village. The master plan was prepared to identify a best practice approach to deliver new low & medium density housing, open spaces and a neighbourhood activity centre including a small supermarket. The ability to provide housing choice and diversity was a key priority of the master plan, given that Bathurst's population is continuing to age, household size is declining and the cost of housing is increasing.
Council is now seeking your comments on the draft master plan to determine how it's principles might best be implemented in Council's planning instruments.
